I whole heartedly disagree with this article questioning the value of annual exams for healthy adults.
Building rapport with your doctor is critical. Often, it will be one of the most important and intimate relationships in your life. I want my MD to know me, my history, health trends and general disposition… BEFORE a crisis. I also want preventive care to STAY healthy.
I think too many people don’t get check ups now which could help keep sickness at bay. (you know who you are) Though I am deathly afraid of needles, my well being trumps my fear of the phlebotomist.
I am not a number or a statistical average. If doctors think seeing healthy adults for 15 minutes wastes their time, perhaps they picked the wrong profession.
